Sort of microfamous Jonas

Weezer - Pork And Beans

The rise of self-publishing the last 5 years has also been the rise of a new type of celebrities. People, who through blogging has been able to create some sort of fame. New York Magazine has an article on what they has dubbed as Microfame.

The article defines 8 steps to microfame:

It’s interesting to note that this is not only a school of microfame but also marketing in a networked economy. Weezer understood the power of microfame in their latest video and included people of microfame as marketing leverage.

My favourite concept in the article is Fauxparazzi, executed and developed by bloggers everywhere. Defined as:

Taking photos of non-famous people staged to look famous. The gifted microfamer borrows from the paparazzo’s handbook by choreographing photos that look accidental but are actually snapped from the perfect angle and with the perfect company.

Exhibit A of this

This week we lost one person of microfame but as Mat says:

People who quit blogging by blogging that they’ve quit blogging haven’t quit blogging.
