Minor changes: Disqus & firefly by Jonas

Two new product releases from companies we like has been added to the blog.

First off, Disqus.

Disqus is a long time favorite in term of ambition and potential. However, the execution so far has not yet been all that great. Hopefully the new update, of among other things the so important wordpress plugin, will change that. With 30 000 blogs it’s starting to reach a critical mass in order for it to be a sufficient discussion platform.

I tried to install it yesterday and it totally removed the UI of the wordpress admin…not a great release. Since then I’ve been following the discussion here and it should be working good enough by now. Well done by Daniel and Jason to continuously communicate with users.

Secondly, firefly.

The guys at Betaworks continues to push good things to market, Bit.ly is probably their most talked about service to date. About a week ago they released Firef.ly, which is a pretty straight forward chat application for people visiting a site. It’s hardly exceptionally innovative but still interesting in terms of execution.

I don’t think this will add any tremendous value to the site, it’s more of an experiment with a beta tool. But it would be interesting to see it implemented on a larger site, such as an e-commerce site to provide better customer service.

Update: Swedish singer/songwriter Sofia Talvik is among the sites that have implemented it.

Why?

A couple of small changes, made mainly because we support the philosophy behind both products, good stuff should be encouraged.

This is our way of saying Word!

    Yeah !
Looks a lot like word press, Which I guess is a good thing since that has become the gold standard in blogging.
