Getsatisfaction gets an update
Got a message from Jonathan via Twitter asking if I had any examples of sites using the Getsatisfaction API, which I didn’t (do you?) but it got me to take yet another look at Getsatisfaction and I noticed that they today updated their conversation pages, and I found an interesting new feature that I really liked.
What’s the mood in this conversation?

The new feature let’s people rate how happy they are with the topic and the conversation in general, sweet! I also like that you can add a little customization to your mood, “I’m……”.

What’s so great about it, is that it’s a more human and socially real way of communicating, instead of just using the numeric rating that we’ve grown accustomed to. Being inspired from how people talk and interact in real life instead of algorithms is always a nice touch.
Getsatisfaction is continuing to do great stuff, not only interaction wise but also technically, for example including Oauth in their upcoming API.
When we listened to Leslie Chicoine at SXSW she was a strong advocate of writing for everyone. Don’t expect people to know what all the web lingo is about, instead write to inform and explain. A lot of people releasing new services is communicating in a way that excludes a lot of people. An easy but wrong route to go.
Getsatisfaction just seems to be a company that have chosen to do many things right instead of wrong. Well done.
