Background on a billion dollar acquisition
Sun’s CEO Jonathan Schwartz writes an interesting blog post about the acquisition of MySQL this week (read this reflection for a pessimistic, but perhaps valid, view on the deal). The deal itself is the final evidence that Open Source is a valid business model, but the blog post is interesting since it’s, to my knowledge, the first time a billion dollar acquisition is provided with such a detailed context in a blog post by the responsible CEO.
The blog post once again provides evidence on how companies can regain power of information through blogging. Something for Mr. Svanberg to be inspired by.
