I’ll write anything to get on Techmeme by Jonas

Last week Steve Rubel brought up the issue of the Lazysphere, which brings up the issue that a lot of bloggers just watch Techmeme and the press releases to find things to blog about.

Blogs have previously been the underground of news, where you would find the discussion that traditional media normally didn’t dare to carry.

Professional blogs really changed that eh? Since these blogs have to produce something like 16 posts a day we now have blogs that functions as regular newspapers. SAI, Gawker, Techcrunch and Mashable just to name a few. The only things that differentiate them from a regular newspaper (apart from the original content that traditional media companies carries everyday) is that they dare to throw in a wtf every now and then. But really, WTF!

Today, and I realize that Sundays is a slow news day, the story that is loved by bloggers is the NY Times article about the dating site Plenty of fish. Which really only provided old news that everyone already were aware of.

Yes we know that he makes a lot of money AND that the site is ugly AND that Plenty of fish is one of the more disruptive sites out there. So where’s the news?

Techmeme shares the same problem as Twingly, both centralize the discussion around a few articles/press releases and basically turn blogs into toilet paper.
