Co-creative marketing concepts
Karl Long has some interesting thoughts on what he defines as Co-creative marketing, which is dubbed as a more holistic term than the term Viral marketing.
As I perceive it, Co-creative marketing is marketing and communication that feeds of customer engagement. Something that needs to be built into the products and services from the very beginning. Long mentions companies such as eBay, Threadless and Etsy as typical representatives of Co-creative as a business strategy. Where the main value of the products are created by the customers.
Three components are presented as key in the Co-creative marketing concept:
- Sharable - Create elements of your product/service that are sharable and worth sharing
- Mashable - Provide an open solution that enables mashup with other services (API, RSS, XML)
- Hackable - How customers can impact the product/service and make it their own in some way
As Long says it’s just an outline, but still maybe something valuable enough to take notice of.
