SVT’s new YouTube channel by Jonas

Update: SVT answer my wish in the comments of this post. Well done.

SVT has quietly launched their own YouTube channel. A nice initiative that was announced earlier this year. SVT is as usual leading the web effort among Swedish broadcasting companies. While everyone else is on a mission to mess up their own TV guide, SVT is focusing on the content and how to distribute it.

I like the effort. But it would be even better and much more appreciated if they used a flash player for all their video streaming and not only selected clips. I really like their own flash player, example here, and it would be great to see further development of it. For example to open it for distribution on blogs, content sites and so on.

YouTube is great, especially because of the number of eyeballs you reach. However for quality content I would rather prefer a flash player that can provide higher resolution and also it would provide SVT with extended branding options.

SVT is on the right track and as always (in Europe) it is the state broadcasting companies that are the early adopters.
