Aggressive sugar
Got a question during Webbdagarna today about how e-commerce and blogs will evolve. At least I think that was the question. Answered something about that a blog can be a good platform to start some kind of commerce from. But I forgot about the interesting acquisition made by Sugar publishing earlier this week.
In my talk I focused on how e-commerce sites better should support users to help them chose and find rather than just the “Buy” button. And that content sites, such as blogs, is an interesting way to use as leverage for an e-commerce business.
Sugar publishing is, in short a weblogs inc. for women with some social network capabilities, just bought shopstyle.com. It would not be a wild guess to say that we’ll soon see some integration of ShopStyle in the Sugar blogs.
Personally I think it’s a good move and something that will grow as a trend. Fashion blogs often play an important part in consumers buying process. Hence it’s a nice vertical integration that brings consumer desire and action closer together.
