Using nerd fame to succeed by Jonas

In the large, but not so large, web community certain people can get attention just by eating a tuna sandwich. A trio that definitely qualifies to that are Kevin Rose (founder of Digg.com), Guy Kawasaki (Hawaiian shirt lover and author) and Jason Calacanis (founder of Weblogs inc.).

All of them recently launched new companies and this post really show how personality driven the attention for these companies have been so far. Pretty expected results, with Mahalo (bigger than Google) and Pownce having a much higher ambition level.

Truemors:

Blogs Mentioning Truemors: 1197
Blogs Mentioning Truemors but not Guy Kawasaki: 296
Personality-Driven Coverage: 75.2%

Mahalo:

Blogs Mentioning Mahalo:2,070
Blogs Mentioning Mahalo but not Jason Calacanis: 957
Personality-Driven Coverage: 53.8%

Pownce:
Blogs Mentioning Pownce: 1742
Blogs Mentioning Pownce but not Kevin Rose: 1,066
Personality-Driven Coverage: 38.8%
Digg-driven Coverage: 90%…;)

Truemors

Mahalo

Pownce

Update: Ilya was nice enough to point out that Alexa won’t really show multiple sites in one graph, hence there’s now three graphs. Also I got a couple of invites to Pownce if anyone like to try it out, just leave a comment or send a mail.

Thanks for coming by my blog! For whatever reason, Alexa has trouble displaying more than one line simulnatenously- so the chart above shows only Truemors.
