Regarding my earlier posting about the “no fun”-situation going on at LinkedIn, thought it was interesting to read the new CEO, Dan Nye’s approach to it:

“LinkedIn is a productivity tool. We expect people to come to LinkedIn and accomplish tasks, then move on. We have no intention of becoming a social site. We want to remain focused on productivity that is important for professionals.”

When did being social meant you can’t be productive, and why isn’t being social sometimes the most productive and effective way of getting a task done? Making a first contact and hiring someone has always been a social process to me.

Guess they’re hoping that their “Facebook move” will motivate someone to do that for them. But LinkedIn is a productivity tool so don’t bother.
