Rethinking Web 2.0 Investment… by Jonathan

I thought Jonas and I had seen the last of McKinsey reports when we finished up our studies at school, but here they are making their debut with lk9… I’m curious how their comparative response rate was by inserting “web 2.0″ into the header of the report.

Interesting enough, companies who have adopted new technologies into their operations, generally, complain that they did so too late. What are we to say about the companies that haven’t embarked on new communication tools within new media?

Web services and Collective Intelligence (e.g. shared databases) were on top as far as new technologies being used. New? hmmm.

Another interesting point was that the report noted most of these techniques were being developed internally, meaning customer driven content still scares the … well, let’s say marketers are not really comfortable with the idea just yet.

Big companies still want to be perceived as Perfect, a term that often gets interpreted as Professional.

McKinsey’s report helped show us that Professionalism is “owning up” to making a mistake that you were late in adopting technology.
