A pretty happy Google CEO
So Google is doing quite well these days. Thus, when Wired gets Eric Schmidt down for an interview interesting things may or may not get said. This time a bit of both.

Data centers are an extremely interesting topic for the future development of the internet. By owning a relatively large share of the existing web traffic in the world, Google has a firm grasp on the control and insight into our behaviour and interests. It’s kind of spooky. But an advantage that may be of critical importance further down the road as the web develops.
Schmidt also touched upon their direct attack against Microsoft and the corporate market with Google apps. Today, more companies are willing to let go of their data storage to a third party. Since they have all been down the road of security and all the complications and costs involved with keeping their data secure. As Henrik has noted, Gmail is also a direct competitor to the very successful Exchange system from Microsoft. Further increasing their reach and involvement on the corporate market.
Once again Google ends up on top, where Microsoft software only acts as a filter between the company computer and the employee, Google is controlling everything from the backend to the frontend.
End result: Google ending up with total control. 1984-George-Orwell kind of control.
