Tastefull, Easily Accessed… and no Blink! Blink! by Jonathan

I’ve long been a proponent of better connecting our web-brethren here in Sweden. As we’ve learned through Connection07, our network has largely been our best channel of communication. I believe whole-heartedly that (for us) building channels to communicate will be much more valuable than being adopted into established means. There must be more efficient ways to reach the masses of small and medium sized businesses in this country (hello Göteborg?), than a DN or GP advert.

So, turning our focus towards the web, we’ve been introduced to a progressive (web 2.0) means of online communicating, network advertising. The Deck, “The premier advertising network for reaching creative, web and design professionalsh”, has illustrated that there is business to be had in this arena:

Cost Per Influence
We’re not selling The Deck based on page views or hits or click-through, but if we were, the CPM for a buy here would be priced well below industry norms. Most media who say “we don’t sell on the numbersâ€? do so because they don’t have the numbers to support their rates. That’s certainly not the case with The Deck, as a group the network serves up millions of impressions each month. Plus, The Deck ads are not redirected and the very high page rank of the eleven Deck sites can make a significant difference in an advertiser’s search rankings during and well after a campaign is complete. All that being said, it’s not about “cost-per-thousand,â€? it’s about “cost-per-influence.â€?

Now, turning towards Sweden, it’s great to see the effort by Karl Eckberg and the development of Adopia. A tool which aims at communicating more accurately and effectively, as we’ve read, “Din annons är smakfull och lättillgänlig - inget blink-blink, inga redirect-länkar“. Words which have not always been associated with online advertising. I do think Adopia will have success and if I was an investor, I’d keep a close watch as this progresses. The impact of a collected voice will open more and more opportunities, I just hope it’s not too early for people to listen.
