Home decoration, lost in cyberspace? by Jonas

A consequence from living in IKEA-land is the natural interest in home decoration, which for many of us, is one of the more prominent interests of Swedish people. Home decorating shows and magazines have been extremely successful due to the fascinating amount of interest within the design of our homes. Therefore, it’s interesting to see that no one has really targeted this segment with a powerful community. The big black hole on the web is really concerning people between 30-45, which basically is the home decorating generation. This group has no natural place on the web apart from Aftonbladet and Viktklubb

Hence, I would like to see a community site develop around home decorating and design, a natural step would be for a community site like Grannar.se to extend their offer to, also, include discussion around design and home decoration. With sites like Curbly and Rate my room as excellent examples of well executed community sites, it should be an easy decision for them. Really.

I think we all have opinions on good and bad design, whether it’s the web, the office or our homes. Since it is such a high area of involvement, people are willing to share ideas and opinions, which are the basic foundations of any good and prosperous community.

So please give me a hot-or-not for living rooms, because this is not ok!

    Hi Jonas,
Came across your post and found it very insightful. My husband and I have just launched (after a *gulp* year of work) a home improvement community site for sharing ideas and resources. We’d love to hear your opinion … and see your home projects on our site!

    Thanks!
