An embassy in Second Life…eh, why? Jonas

Yesterday morning, it was announced that the Swedish Institute was planning to open the first ever embassy in Second Life. This is a prime example of the Swedish strategy in every industry. By hijacking an internet trend in an early stage Sweden once again gives the perception of being up to date on internet behaviour and that we’re suppose to be cutting edge on the web. In reality, our web behaviour rarely goes beyond Aftonbladet, the natural starting page or the community that we take to heart. But it’s a surprisingly good PR decision by the Swedish Institute (which role often seems to be limited to accompanying the Swedish king on his trips around the world) and already just the news of saying that you plan to set up an embassy is worth more than actually executing on it.
