Sweden’s Polar Rose provides “image DNA”

Malmö’s Polar Rose is making a big effort ($5.1m-big) to manipulate searching for photos, or should I say, findings of photos. According to their venture partner, Nordic Ventures, it seems that they’ve developed an interesting technology to detect, label images, thus making image searching a little more sorted.
the company’s unique 3D technology for detecting and matching faces. This technology is further enhanced by intelligently partnering with the input of the user to achieve an exceptionally high recognition rate – a true fusion of human and machine intelligence to create ‘bionic’ software.
We can see that the TechCrunch crowd has already begun to question (see comments) the technology’s commercial viability and/or whether it extends beyond faces and humans (what, like a dog’s ass?). Anyways, there is a connection here to social media (and possibly the FBI/CIA) and any time we can make the web more sortable, I’m all for it.
