backlash 2.0
The internet has revolutionized the trend process. We used mark trends by decades…the 70s, the 80s. Now, it’s more like, “oh my god, that was so last quarter!” The good thing is that trends of all eras are much more accessible now and finding the right trend “mashup” (i.e. your trapper keeper is lying in the passenger seat of your Aston Martin) is the aim.
Thus, long before much of the business world even knows what or who web 2.0 is, the counter-counter culture and the anti-web 2.0 revolution has begun. The rather anonymous blog, Dead 2.0, is set out to mark all things wrong with web 2.0…much of which probably needs to be said, there are some good points, here…and another by Thomas Baekdal.
It goes without saying that most trends, good or bad, in the US are overhyped, and is it so absurd that the evolution of a business model that is so widely accessible get overhyped? If we compare it to other trends, it’s probably one of the few that are deserving.
So, let’s go out there and generate some traffic!!! …surely someone else will develop a way to make a return.
